Breaking Through to Excellence - The Next Steps

Geoff Gwilym 

Geoff Gwilym is the Chief Executive Officer, Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC) and brings with him a long history and expertise in the automotive industry.

While initially gaining his automotive body trade qualification in the UK, Geoff went on to become a qualified teacher, achieved a master’s degree in education and proceeded to manage large curriculum and commercial projects in the education sector.

Amongst Geoff’s achievements has been the running of two national skills councils, Automotive and Transport and Logistics and in both these roles Geoff provided skills and policy advice to state and national governments in Australia.

Geoff has managed large training provisions in industry, and this has led to him holding a central role in the development of automotive qualifications and skills forecasting for the government and the automotive industry.

More recently Geoff has been a key driver in national industry policy initiatives including advocating for fairer contract arrangements for small and medium sized businesses, changes to the national franchise code and the removal of red tape to let businesses get on with its job.

Geoff’s passion is in the development of skills for the next generation of automotive apprentices and to ensure the industry has the sufficient labor flows, through local and international pathways, to support the sustainability and growth of Australian business.

Geoff is a member of various Boards and was appointed to the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Board in December 2022.
