How would you like to play a part in history and contribute to significant change in Tasmania? Join with us in a highly rewarding position, to advocate for innovations in services and changes to legislation with the ultimate goal of improving the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians?
This attractive package includes:
The ATDC is seeking an accomplished senior executive with a strategic mindset to lead policy development and create impact leading to positive change for the alcohol, tobacco and other drugs sector of Tasmania. This role has three direct reports who work with the government, people with a living/lived experience and the workforce in our community organisations across Tasmania. This role will identify synergies across these areas and together with the CEO work to consolidate our advocacy to drive maximum impact.
You will have a commitment to co design in your stakeholder processes. The good news is that our members and people with lived experience are highly engaged and work with us when we develop policy and deliver events. We seek to leverage existing expertise wherever we can.
You will also be a confident and influential individual who uses contemporary leadership approaches to inspire your team and sector colleagues and also when representing the sector in various committees, meetings and advocacy activities. Part of this role is deputising for the CEO, and acting in the CEO role periodically. Knowledge of not for profit governance, compliance and a degree of business acumen is required for this role. This role would suit someone with aspirations to become a CEO but also would suit someone who has held a similar position previously (and who is looking for a change).
We require someone with academic qualifications and/or equivalent experience who has a track record translating research to policy for audiences that include government, community, people with a lived experience and media.
So, what does this look like on a day-to-day basis?
On any given day there would be a mixture of activities and priorities. You would have a “to-do” list that could include: pulling together data for the CEO to support media advocacy, gathering a group of senior AOD staff together to discuss a given issue, then writing up the notes and starting to pull together a submission. In the afternoon you may be attending a committee to work through some modelling data. You may reach out to a colleague in another state to get some background information. Later in the day you may have a check in meeting with one of your staff to work through operational issues for one of the events coming up and then a chat with the CEO.
