Lead Australia's national voice for men's health
Australian Men's Health Forum (AMHF) is Australia's peak body for men's health.
For more than two decades, AMHF has worked to improve the health and wellbeing of men and boys, strengthen the men's health sector, and ensure the voices and experiences of communities, practitioners, researchers and lived-experience leaders are represented in national conversations and policy.
We are now seeking an exceptional Chief Executive Officer to lead AMHF into its next phase of influence, relevance and sustainability.
This is a nationally significant leadership opportunity for a values-driven executive who understands advocacy, government engagement, representative leadership and strategic growth.
The opportunity
This role sits at the intersection of advocacy, policy, sector leadership and organisational stewardship.
The CEO will lead AMHF's national agenda by strengthening relationships with government, amplifying the voice of the men's health sector, supporting and representing members, and positioning AMHF as a trusted contributor to public policy and systems reform.
Working closely with the Board, the CEO will help shape the next chapter of men's health in Australia - building organisational sustainability while ensuring AMHF remains credible, connected and influential.
This is not a service delivery role.
It is a representative leadership role requiring strategic judgement, public credibility and the ability to bring diverse voices together around a shared purpose.
Key responsibilities
• Lead AMHF's strategic direction and organisational performance
• Represent the interests, priorities and perspectives of AMHF members and stakeholders
• Strengthen AMHF's national profile and influence across government, policy and sector networks
• Build trusted relationships with Ministers, departments, advisers, researchers, peak bodies and community organisations
• Champion evidence-informed advocacy on men's health and wellbeing
• Drive organisational sustainability through partnerships, funding diversification and strategic growth
• Support a high-performing, values-driven organisational culture
• Work closely with the Board to ensure strong governance, accountability and strategic alignment
• Position AMHF as a constructive, solutions-focused contributor to national health and social policy conversations
About you
You are an experienced executive leader with strong political judgement, credibility and communication skills.
You understand how to lead in complex stakeholder environments and can balance advocacy, diplomacy, strategy and operational leadership.
You may come from a peak body, advocacy organisation, health or social policy environment, member association, public-interest organisation or purpose-led not-for-profit.
Most importantly, you understand how to represent a constituency authentically and how to build influence through relationships, evidence and trust.
You will bring:
• Senior executive leadership experience in a purpose-driven or representative organisation
• Proven experience engaging specifically with federal government departments, ministers, and senior advisers
• Strong advocacy and public representation capability
• Strategic and commercial acumen, including experience in partnerships, sustainability or revenue diversification
• Experience working with Boards and governance frameworks
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
• The ability to lead a lean national organisation with impact and discipline
• A collaborative and emotionally intelligent leadership style
Experience in men's health is not essential.
A commitment to improving outcomes for men and boys is.
Why join AMHF?
This is an opportunity to lead one of Australia's most important voices in preventive health, wellbeing and social connection.
You will help shape national conversations about men's health, contribute to better systems and policy, and support a growing movement focused on healthier men, stronger communities and better outcomes for families and society.
Flexible remote working arrangements are available and candidates may be based anywhere in Australia.

The membership fee strategy is not an accounting exercise. It is a leadership decision. And if your Board is setting fees based on what feels comfortable rather than what the organisation needs, you are already behind.
