Their member focused initiatives include continuing professional education, accredited modality research, and advocacy with government bodies and health insurers.    


The position:             
An exciting opportunity for an individual with an interest in traditional and complementary medicine to join ATMS as their CEO and make a meaningful impact in the community. Responsible for steering the ongoing expansion of the Society’s membership base and enhancing service delivery, the CEO oversees all ATMS operations within established policies and in alignment with the authority delegated by the Board of Directors.
This role would suit a reasoned, pragmatic and trustworthy individual with a growth mindset. As the CEO plays a key role in supervising the planning and strategic direction of the organisation, we are looking for someone with a strong business acumen and someone who is familiar with managing Board dynamics as well as a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vision, Mission, and Strategy: Uphold the Society’s vision and mission, contribute to strategic planning, and report progress to the Board
  • Governance: Provide expert advice to the Board, communicate updates to the President, manage risk, and ensure legal compliance
  • Human Resource Management: Guide staff, ensure succession planning, and advise the Board on HR matters
  • Finance and Resource Management: Implement sound financial practices, prepare budgets, and ensure compliance for ATMS growth
  • Program and Operational Management: Oversee service delivery, recommend industry support, and maintain communication channels to members.

Your experience will include:  

  • Demonstrated operational and leadership experience as a CEO or senior executive 
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders
  • An interest in traditional medicine and belief in the advocacy and the efficacy of the industry
  • Strong belief and ability to advocate for choice for all Australians and their healthcare
  • High-level leadership and management skills, strategic planning and State Board level management 
  • Working knowledge and experience in the management of finance operations, planning and reporting and other key business support functions such as HR, IT and Marketing 
  • Demonstrated understanding of policy development and government relations 
  • Completion of tertiary qualification in business or other relevant fields
  • Experience of advocating for an industry highly desirable
  • Prior experience within a Membership or Not-for-Profit organisation is highly desirable.
