About Our client is a leading health NFP and national peak body with a growing profile as it tackles and supports a significant health issue that impacts 1 in 4 Australians.  With a focus on prevention, management, education, awareness, information and advocacy, the organisation provides information, support, education and resources for individuals, carers, health professionals and industry.


The organisation is made up of a Board as well as State & Territory Advisory Committees.  The Executive Team and staff of 36 are located in Melbourne inner South-East.    Revenue is generated through a combination of Government Funding, membership fees and training modules.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation into its next phase of growth and impact as it grows and strengthens its national profile. The CEO will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing the strategic direction, leading significant growth, ensuring financial
sustainability, and fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of the healthcare sector, a passion for serving the community, and the leadership acumen to drive organisational excellence.

The CEO will be a strong and highly regarded people leader and positive role model and will have both the skills and experience to lead the organisation at a time of significant challenges and opportunities in the provision of health care to the Australian community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership - Build on, articulate and execute the compelling vision and strategy for the organisation in collaboration with the Board of Directors (as outlined in Purpose and Core Activities below).
  • People Leadership - Develop and foster a culture of collaboration across the organisation with the Board, Staff and Stakeholders enabling trust fostering team effectiveness through delegation, guidance and positive feedback, with an open and approachable communication style.
  • Financial Management - Oversee the financial health of the organisation, ensuring sound fiscal management and sustainability.  Diversify revenue streams to reduce reliance on government funding.
  • Operational Excellence - Provide effective and efficient operational leadership, optimising processes to enhance service delivery and organisational efficiency driving strong outcomes for the organisation.
  • Community Engagement - Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, healthcare professionals, and partner organisations. Increase engagement with consumers, diverse community groups and the organisation’s members.
  • Governance and Compliance - Work closely with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance, transparency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Qualifications & Experience - Degree qualification in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.


The Person
We are looking to identify candidates with proven executive leadership experience in the healthcare sector, NFP sector or related fields who can demonstrate sound experience in driving successful outcomes through Advocacy; Awareness; Partnerships; Education; Research and Funding.


The successful applicant needs to be a strong strategic thinker with sound decision-making skills and demonstrated success in leading organisations with a focus on membership/training/advocacy and partnerships underpinned with sound financial management capability. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are needed to initiate and cultivate strong stakeholder relationships across Government; Industry; Community Groups; the Board and your trusted team. 


The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate sound experience dealing with government (Federal and State) and policy-makers. Commitment to the mission and values of the organisation are an integral part of this appointment.
