The Institute of Quarrying Australia (IQA) is the peak body for the extractive industry and is the leading provider of education to the sector. The IQA is supporting its members and stakeholders in this essential resources sector through education, networking, workforce development and supporting the industry to continually meet its compliance and regulation obligations. The IQA operates through its strong network of Branches and Sub-Branches across Australia.
The IQA is in an exciting phase of growth as it delivers new services and education to members via expanding its partnerships education programs (including online) and events. This is an extraordinary opportunity for an operationally focussed Chief Executive Officer to join the organisation -and continue to drive change.
As the Chief Executive Officer of this not-for profit member-based organisation you will work closely with the board and committees to implement an existing program of works, bring to life an online education strategy and drive new sustainable revenue streams.
The role is largely work from home and can be located anywhere in Australia. The role is required to travel interstate (approx. monthly) and regularly attend events that are outside of normal business hours.
To succeed in this appointment you will bring:
• Previous success leading a member-based organisation or education focused business (or similar)
• Significant P&L and balance sheet experience and ability to invest funds in programs for growth
• Strong member / stakeholder / customer focus, with a reputation for valuing relationships
• Experience executing change, including systems advancement through technology.
You will bring the following capabilities to the role.
Leadership: The ability to develop and communicate a compelling organisational vision, strong leadership skills, and
exceptional decision-making capabilities.
Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills. The ability to optimise the use of resources, identify growth opportunities,
multi-year budgeting, and communicate budgets. Ability to set and achieve financial targets at a program and organisational level.
Strategic Planning and Execution: Proficiency in creating and implementing strategic plans that drive growth, innovation,
engagement, and profitability. Provide direction to staff and committees on operational priorities aligned to the strategic plan.
Governance and Board Relations: Open collaboration with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates, recommendations,
and support for board initiatives. Oversight of compliance with governance policies, constitution, and legal requirements. Ability to
communicate openly with the board, including preparing accurate reports.
Operational Excellence: A proven track record in optimising operational efficiency, managing a remote team, numerous
programs and ability to develop and implement new sources of revenue. Experience enhancing the use of technology for operational excellence
and aligning workforce to meet operational requirements.
Culture Development and Industry Engagement: Proved ability to work collaboratively and foster an inclusive company culture
that promotes innovation, teamwork and engagement. The ability to work with members, volunteers and staff to create a cohesive environment
that is efficient and effective. Ensuring the IQA can attract and retain top talent (staff and committees).
Advocacy and Representation: Advocate for the interests of the industry and members at the local, state, and national
levels. Build relationships with regulatory bodies, industry stakeholders and government officials. Demonstrate excellent communication
skills, stakeholder management, and the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external partners.
Education and Membership: Proven ability in the management of membership and / or delivery of education programs (face to
face and online) for industry will be highly regarded.
