Chief Executive Officer - Palliative Care Australia

Chief Executive Officer -  Palliative Care Australia

The organisation
Palliative Care Australia (PCA) is the national peak body for palliative care in Australia.  Palliative Care Australia represents all those who work towards high quality palliative care for all Australians. Working closely with consumers, our Member Organisations and the palliative care workforce, we aim to improve access to, and promote the need for, palliative care. We believe quality palliative care occurs when strong networks exist between specialist palliative care providers, primary generalist, primary specialist and support care providers and the community.   Guided by a vision of quality care “when and where it’s needed”, PCA champions excellence in practice, supports workforce development and advocates for compassionate, person-centred care for people with life-limiting illness and their families.

The role
The Chief Executive Officer of PCA leads the organisation’s overall strategy, operations and performance, working closely with the Board to deliver PCA’s strategic direction and strengthen its national impact. The role is responsible for leading a values-based, high-performing culture; driving national advocacy and stakeholder engagement; overseeing policy development and consultation processes; and ensuring effective communication and community awareness of palliative and end-of-life care. The CEO holds accountability for financial sustainability, risk management, governance compliance, and the successful delivery of key programs and projects.

The next CEO will bring senior executive leadership experience (CEO / Deputy CEO / COO level), with strong commercial acumen and demonstrated success in revenue growth, strategic planning and organisational management. They will have proven capability in healthcare advocacy, media and public affairs, and building trusted relationships across government, peak bodies, member organisations and community stakeholders. Strong governance, financial oversight and team leadership skills are essential, alongside excellent communication, negotiation and public speaking ability, and a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for people requiring palliative and end-of-life care.
