Shape the Future of Emergency Services in South Australia | Based in Adelaide, South Australia
The South Australian Fire and Emergency Services Commission (SAFECOM) operates under the guidance of its Board, and works with SA’s fire and emergency service organisations to ensure that volunteers and employees within the emergency services sector (ESS) are provided with the resources and support they need to carry out their vital work. SAFECOM also plays a leadership role in supporting emergency capabilities across the state and developing new initiatives to roll out across the ESS.
The exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a new Chief Executive of SAFECOM. This role will appeal to a dynamic, outward-focussed, engaging and inspiring leader with relevant experience and expertise to support the Minister for Emergency Services and Correctional Services in discharging all legislative responsibilities as outlined in the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005 (SA).
You will work extremely closely with the Chief Officers of the SA Metropolitan Fire Service, Country Fire Service and State Emergency Service in developing and managing a risk-based Emergency Management Framework for the State within a national context, providing for the effective allocation of resources within the ESS to ensure the provision of adequate frontline services to support and protect South Australia’s community, and developing and maintaining a strategic policy framework supported by risk management strategies and systems.
In collaboration with all stakeholders, you will be heavily involved in initiating exciting advancements of sector improvements, and in maintaining key capabilities such as Public Information and Warning Systems and the State Emergency Information Call Centre Capability. This role also involves engagement with relevant volunteer associations and unions.
