Role Purpose

The Member Engagement Manager (Victoria) strengthens AMIC small business members' technical capability and profitability by providing expert advice, resources and solutions, particularly regarding food safety.

The role maintains productive relationships between small business AMIC members, regulators and key industry stakeholders in the delivery of key programs and services. The role draws on industry experience and excellent interpersonal skills to engage a diversity of small business members, which are predominantly retail butchers but also include wholesalers, smallgoods makers and processors.

The Member Engagement Manager joins a national network which initiates, maintains and leverages strategic partnerships and cross-functional capability to drive the success, profile and performance of small business members.

Role outcomes

Outcomes of the role include, but are not limited to –

Member engagement and technical advisory

Members receive timely, accurate technical advice aligned with regulatory requirements and best practice; member engagement is productive and solution driven.

Complex food safety and other regulatory requirements are translated into clear, practical resources and advice for small business members, supported by cross-functional specialist capability.

Strengthened industry and member capability

The Member Engagement Manager contributes to the development and delivery of AMIC products and services to build capability across small business members.

The role facilitates the delivery of technical advice and resources, supported by cross-functional specialist capability, to small business members.

The role lifts workforce capability and product quality through delivery of flagship apprentice butcher and meat competitions.

Regulatory liaison

The role engages in state (Victoria) regulatory consultations, supported by cross-functional specialist team members, and maintains constructive relationships with regulators.

The role translates changes in regulatory requirements into easy-to-understand resources for members and ensures industry needs and realities are considered in regulatory design and approach.

  • Member-centric The Member Engagement Manager works closely with members to identify opportunities and deliver services that meet their business needs.
  • Expert and authoritative The Member Engagement Manager works with cross-functional specialist staff and partners to clearly communicate complex information to diverse cohorts of members. Small business members seek out advice and implement it.
  • Trusted The Member Engagement Manager builds trusted relationships across industry and regulatory networks, and represents AMIC members in relevant forums.
  • Collaborative The Member Engagement Manager works cross-functionally across AMIC to deliver, improve and deepen AMIC's value position and profile.
  • Flexible and technology enabled The Member Engagement Manager joins a network of connected industry professionals to provide solutions to members. The role provides face-to-face and remotely delivered member services, using technology to draw on necessary expertise and resources.

Skills, capabilities and experience

The Member Engagement Manager leverages a range of proven skills, capabilities and experience to ensure their success, including –

  • Great interpersonal skills and engaging communicator.
  • Working knowledge and practical application of food safety requirements to support member advisory services.
  • Understanding of meat industry supply chain, processes and risks.
  • Working knowledge of meat industry supply chain operations to effectively advise members.
  • Knowledge transfer and extension experience.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to diversity of industry audiences.
  • Stakeholder engagement and influence.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of stakeholder engagement experience in a professional capacity.
  • Member/customer centric service model experience.
